Posts, Mailboxes and Columns
Anything set in the ground or holding up a porch roof — reset, replaced, or set new.
Mailbox posts, support posts and rotted porch columns in Springfield and the towns around it.
Repairs, priced by the job
A leaning mailbox post, a porch column gone soft at the bottom, a support post that has started to sink — those are repairs, and we price them like repairs. Every visit has a $130 minimum that covers the first hour of labor. Materials are billed separately.
The prices below are rough starting figures, not a promise. Send photos and we'll narrow it down; if the job needs a look in person, we'll come out. Either way you get a firm number in writing before any work starts.
Posts and columns
- Mailbox post removal and replacement — about $300 per cemented post
- Fence and support post removal and replacement — about $300 per cemented post
- Porch columns and support posts — about $140 per pillar, removed and replaced with temporary support in place
- Lamp posts, flag poles and clothesline posts — set the same way
These assume standard residential conditions; the final quote depends on scope, site and materials. The full list is on our Pricing page. Fence runs and gates are on our Fences and Gates page, and deck framing is on our Decks page.
When a repair isn't the right answer
We'll say so. If a soft column is really the visible end of rot in the porch framing above it, swapping the column alone buys you a year. When that's what we find, we'll show you what we're seeing and quote the real fix.
Set right the first time
- Old post and footing come out, not cut off at the ground and left behind.
- New post set in concrete, plumbed and braced while it cures.
- Mailbox posts set at the height and setback your carrier needs, so the box is reachable from the truck.
- Columns carry weight — temporary support goes in before anything comes out, and comes out after the new one is bearing.
Wood, composite or steel, painted or stained to match what is already there. If you want a different look than what was there, say so and we will price both.
